Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision – many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.
Our optometrist takes the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.
Meet Our Boulder Eye Doctor:
Dr. Wren was born and raised in Georgia. He attended Georgia Southern University where he majored in Biology with a Minor in Psychology.
Inspired by family to pursue a degree in medicine and despite never wearing glasses as a child, Dr. Wren became passionate to help people see and became empowered to help patients take control of their eye health and overall health through diet and exercise. He headed north to Chicago, Illinois and attended Illinois College of Optometry, the oldest and most prestigious Optometry school in the United States. Graduating from Optometry School in 1997 with an emphasis in General Optometry, Dr. Wren headed west to Los Angeles and practiced as a LASIK professional for nearly 10 years; attracted to the idea of helping people see without the help of glasses or contact lenses and with help of the latest in technological advancements.
Inspired by Dr. Ron Rosedale, local Co-Founder of Boulder’s Colorado Center for Metabolic Medicine and sharing the title of New York Times Best Selling author along with Gary Taubes, Dr. Wren found another passion in pursuing a healthier low carbohydrate, whole foods, and high fat diet. After seeing a significant positive change in his own health Dr. Wren became motivated to help his patients take control of their eye health and diabetes with dietary change.
Through those years in Los Angeles Dr. Wren, a lifelong Broncos fan, took advantage of visiting his friends in Colorado frequently. Eventually the mountains and the Colorado quality of life called and he has now been a Colorado resident since 2008. Dr. Wren enjoys trail running, cycling, motorcycling, skiing, and hiking; reaching the summit of 9 14-ners to date with ambitions to summit more! He is very dedicated to his patients and in offering them the latest and most advanced in eye health care and technology.
Dr. Wren is very supportive and involved in helping the community, local businesses and students thrive here in the Boulder area and beyond. Dr. Wren has volunteered his time on 3 international vision mission and countless local missions here at home. Down the road Dr. Wren plans on spending his days motorcycling the world.
